This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are the most amazing, creative kids, who live in a severely depressed part of the poor city of Bridgeport, CT. One hundred percent of our school receives free breakfast and lunch every day. For many of my students, I think these are the only hot meals they receive each day.
Our neighborhood is filled with wonderful families who are doing their best to survive but fight the constant battles of poverty.
Many of my students come from homes, with single parents who are doing their best to raise kids in a tough neighborhood.
My Project
Having new pencils, erasers and sharpeners - essential materials in the art room is imperative! Due to a significantly limited budget this year we are very close to running out of these basic supplies.
By supporting this request for drawing supplies you will allow my students to develop their creative talents in each and every project in my room.
Pencils are needed to begin each project, whether it's planning a sculpture, creating a storyboard for digital art, or sketching the shapes needed to illustrate a self portrait.
My students have incredible potential to develop artistic skills that will help them on their academic journey. Your support will be a stepping stone on their already tumultuous road to success.
