This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students will be a group of third-grade students, most of whom were taught remotely last year. They live in an inner-city community. More than 90 percent receive free lunch.
Because of this pandemic, it has been and continues to be an upsetting and confusing year for these little people.
Many of my students are living in shelters. Some are English Language Learners and others have Individualized Educational Plans. Most face challenges both inside and outside of school on a daily basis. Despite these challenges, they are optimistic, hoping for a great school year. Last year they worked hard every day either at school and at home. They have goals and are working hard to achieve them. They are looking forward to a good and safe school year.
My Project
Returning to school in September will be a happy occasion for our students. They need to be in school learning and socializing. We can help them deal with the trauma of the past year and one half.
Staying safe in the time of the Delta Variant is essential.
These dividers, along with masks, handwashing, ventilation, and cleaning will help prevent COVID-19 and its variants from infecting our school. Most of our students are younger than 12 so they cannot be vaccinated at this point.
This would be another layer of protection for our students and staff.
