We want to know what is happening in the world today. Help us reach this goal by giving us magazines that keep us in the loop. You want to know which country is in the news and so do my students. They want to see what life is like everywhere and make connections to their lives.
I have a class of 30 students at poverty level in a large Inner City school district.
There are no available funds for social studies materials. I think these magazines will help us reach our goals of learning about foreign places and the people that live there. we will see what their countries are like and be abl to make connections to our own lives. The information will be at our reading levels so we can understand it better. Some of the students are below level and need the easier material and will be able to share different information and shine with the knowledge that they knew something the rest of the class didn't. I want to reach all my students and give every one the opportunity to learn about other people and lands.
My Project
Time For Kids is a great resource that will enable my students to access a global environment and reach those areas that they have no way of visiting. They need to see what is happening in their world. We will use these magazines in our Social Studies lessons to expand our knowledge of the people of the world and events that can shape history. After we learn about new places we will be able to create reports on those areas and find out more information using our computers. We can compare their lifestyle with ours and draw conclusions about those likenesses or differences.
Open their eyes!.
Let them learn about what is happening in their world. Make them want to learn more and develop them into interested children with a need to know what is going on around them. They need to learn all they can to succeed in a global environment. Help them access materials that will make them aware of what issues are happening all around them.
