My students need sets of 10 subscriptions each to 2 Scholastic News and Current Events news magazines, pencils, printer ink, and basic supplies for the classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
According to the Common-Core Standards, 75% of what students need to know is nonfiction.
My students come from a low-income community where they are less fortunate but strive to do their best to achieve success.
They attend a Title 1 middle school in New York, where materials and resources are limited due to severe budget cuts in the Department of Education.
My Project
The use of nonfiction text from Scholastic News and other newsmagazines will give my students the opportunity not only to learn about real life situations, but to become prepared for statewide exams that they will take this year. Nonfiction is being strongly emphasized in the classroom, and I am sure that it will be included in the exams. The opportunity to have ink for our classroom printer will allow my students to have more practice in certain areas where they may need individual help by printing worksheets.
My students are looking forward to having a productive school year.
