This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At the end of the school year, I would like my students to be able to compare and contrast non-fictional and fictional text while being exposed to a variety of reading topics.
I have 8 second grade students and 4 third grade students in my 12:1:1 classroom.
My school is under District 75, which is for high needs students. My students are diagnosed with Autism, Speech and Language Disorder, and Intellectually Disabled. They require a very structured classroom and differentiated activities to meet each one of their needs while following the Common Core standards.
My Project
Weekly, the students will focus on an article from a Scholastic News Magazine. These articles will be differentiated according to the various levels in the classroom. For example, some students will have reading buddies, and some magazines will include picture symbols to assist with comprehension. The magnets will be used to magnetize the visuals that will be used to retell the articles in the magazines.
Your donations will improve the versatility of learning in our classroom.
These magazines will introduce my students to a world of science, social studies and current events. They are going to love it!
