it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Learning for my students is tough. They have had bad experiences in the classroom before, so when they get to my classroom, they put on an air of apathy to keep them safe. However, this year, in providing them with learning experiences in the garden, I saw a side to my students that I hadn't seen before.
My students have the capacity to show empathy and care for the smallest things.
The smallest thing could be a budding sprout. When we started seeds in the fall, students would continually ask me if they could check on their plants. Students would clamor to the window to check on the plants that are growing in the garden next door.
Having a shed would help us out in many ways. We would have quicker access to the tools in the garden area, reducing transition time from the classroom to the garden. We would have them in easy reach for any task. The tools would be kept dry and safe, maintaining the health of the garden tools, so that students are always working with high-quality equipment. My students deserve the best, and you can help give them that.
