My Project
I am a speech-language pathologist, working at two schools in Baltimore City. Through my 8 years of work, I have run through my materials. I also am always getting new students on my caseload with different needs.
New materials like Play Poh and Critter Clinic, will help my students use their speech and language skills while playing.
A mouth model with a movable tongue will make it easier for me to show students how their tongue needs to move in order to make specific sounds, especially the troublesome "r" sond! This makes it easier for them to use the skills learned in speech therapy in the classroom and at home.
A refresh of markers and dot painters will help my students create art while practicing their skills. Students love to create with the dot markers. They can work on their skills and make art, and then be excited to bring it home. When they show off their work to their families, they will be using their improved speech and language skills at home!
A re-stock of materials such as laminating pouches, plastic envelopes, and storage containers will help me create leveled materials for my younger children and keep them organized. This makes it easier for me to plan and use all of the materials I have. It also keeps the therapy space look more organized, which creates more calm learning environment for my students with special needs.
