This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach second grade in a Title I school. My students are at or below the poverty level living in a suburb of Los Angeles, California. All of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. My class consists of 13 amazing girls and 10 "ready to go" boys. They enjoy being challenged academically and physically every day. They are in the Limited English Proficiency program levels 1 and 2. My students are creative, inquisitive, hard working, and eager to learn about the world around them, as well as themselves. In the classroom, my students work in a whole group, independently as well as in teams. They encourage each other to grow and explore their wonderful world of learning.

My Project

The use of supplies in my classroom is a minute to minute activity. Starting at 8:00 am, my students come in and they are ready and eager to learn. From the moment they sit on their chairs, the fun and learning begin. My students keep their supplies such as pencils, crayons, erasers, markers, etc., in cardboard boxes. When they are looking for a particular color, their little hands rummage into the box making a lot of noise that is a distraction to others.

Having Tabletop Supply Caddies at each desk will eliminate the waste of time spent looking for the crayon needed and the noise that it creates!

I know my students will be happy and more productive to have all their supplies in a caddy that includes 6 removable plastic cups that will bring order to my classroom project and all my subject areas. The magnetic board supply caddies will help me keep my supplies at a fingertip, so I won't need to search for markers when writing my lessons on the board.
