Help me give my students the option of more comfortable seating in our classroom while giving them the ability to spread out to aid in social distancing.
I teach at a Title 1 school and our students often need extra support and ways to handle anxiety and stress.
My students thrive to learn and my goal is to make their learning environment as comfortable as possible.
Many students in my classes have been diagnosed with ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety and sometimes struggle to make it through the day.
My Project
I am looking to add flexible seating options as well as more calculators to our Math classroom. Students often struggle sitting at traditional desks all day long. Having flexible seating options in our classroom will allow them the option to fidget as they need or find a comfy place in a corner to sit. Also, the flexible seating allows students to spread out among the classroom to help with social distancing during COVID times. We have a lot of students that get quarantined due to close exposure and having the ability to spread students out will help ensure that they are not missing out on in-class instruction.
I want to ensure student success while they are in my classroom.
One thing that will help with this is adding more calculators into the rotation of the ones I currently have. Ti-108 calculators are approved for use in 6th-grade math. I currently have less than a full class set of calculators available for use. Adding more calculators will ensure that I will be able to properly clean and disinfect them between student uses. Due to covid, I want to make sure that all community supplies are germ-free.
