Keeping Students On Track And Parents In The Loop

My students need toner for an existing printer and paper so that I can print weekly grade reports for each student to take home to share with their parents.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The transition to high school can be difficult for students. For my students this means keeping track of grading for six different teachers. By providing weekly feedback in the form of a grade report my students know exactly where they stand grade wise and so do their parents.

My students attend a 2,000 student inner-city span school (6 to 12).

We are a Title I (high poverty) school and many students are the first in their family to enter high school. We are college prep, trying to bridge the gap between little college exposure and being college ready in four years.

My Project

Struggling students can be tempted to give up when they fall behind. The toner and paper will provide students and their parents with a break down of their grade each week. They can have the opportunity to continuously analyze their strengths and weaknesses in my class. This also provides an opportunity for me to have a conversation with each student about their individual academic progress. If necessary the student and I can develop a plan to increase the student's grade in areas (classwork, tests and quizzes, homework, projects) where their average is low.

A printed grade report provides students and their parents with evidence of their good work and any areas that need improvement.

The students are required to return the report each week with their parent's signature. This allows the parents of each of my students to understand how their child is performing in my class.
