This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a high school math teacher at an alternative school in central Washington state. I have the privilege of giving 9th-12th graders a second chance at finding success both in the classroom and in life. I believe in teaching my students how math skills apply to the real world and will help them be college, career, or workforce ready.

My Project

I am asking for a variety of gift cards to help keep my high school math students motivated and power through online learning this fall. Each week I will hold a drawing. Students will earn entries through completing work, attending live lessons, attending tutoring sessions and more. The more often they participate, the more likely they are to win!

Many of our students struggled with online learning in the spring.

The majority of my students do not come from a home where a parent is pushing them to complete their work. In fact, many of our parents are at work during the day so the accountability is on my students to login and gets their work done. A gift card can go along way in motivating a high school student. Thank you in advance for supporting my scholars.
