This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in an urban area and they come to school every day because they want to grow, improve, and make a better life for themselves and their families. But sometimes, little things get in the way of that. They sometimes need their basic needs met before they can feel safe, focus on learning, and be the best student they can be. Our school lacks the extra funding to provide for all these needs.

Due to budget issues, my school sometimes lacks basic items that help students take care of themselves and feel comfortable in a way that promotes their learning.

This project will give us the supplies we need, such as bandaids, tissues, sanitary products, and ice packs for minor injuries to care for our students physical needs so that they are ready to learn in the classrooms.

My Project

Being a school in a low-income neighborhood means that we often don't have extra room in the budget. Our school nurse only comes in one a week for half a day; so outside of that time, if students have small medical needs, we are often unable to help them.

Our students need to feel safe and protected in school in order to learn and grow, and these health and wellness supplies such as band-aids, tissues, feminine hygiene products, and ice packs will help us provide them with that comfort and security.

These first aid and basic health care supplies will help all the students in the school feel more comfortable and allow our staff to meet their wellness needs day in and day out.
