Keeping Students Active With Cup Stacking During Social Distancing Requirements
Help me give my students a cup stacking set so they can participate in physical education and improve their focus and fine motor skills, all while remaining 6 feet apart at their desks during Covid restrictions.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are special education students who participate in our Deaf and Hard of Hearing and our General Education Inclusive
Program.
They are so eager to learn! Half are excited to get back in the classroom and start learning as we have been in Distance Learning since March of 2020. Half will continue to access their education at home.
The classes are comprised of students who predominantly come from low income households. The students also meet the challenges of the day with a variety of disabilities from hearing loss, Autism, and other health impairments. Although learning concepts may be harder for them they accept each task with an eagerness that is inspiring.
My Project
These cup stacking kits will be utilized by students who choose to return to campus and also by students who remain virtual at their homes. This is a way that all students can learn and participate together, regardless of location. We have practiced with thin party cups (modified equipment) but it just isn't the same. The students are ready to practice with proper cups to improve their skills!
Cup stacking increases focus, improves fine motor skills, and hones ones ability to remain calm under pressure.
These are all valuable skills needed for my special education physical education students. The many different ways of stacking and the different numbers of cups used in the different formations allow cup stacking to be easily scaffolded, which is perfect for the unique abilities of my students.
