My Project
We would like to serve the community by cleaning our school. This project will create a safe space for the community to hold concerts, community events, host tournaments, conduct meetings, and convene as a community. We would like to start the process by cleaning the door handles, windows on doors, and water fountains. We would also like peers to use the wipes to clean the door handles to prevent germs, and the Windex wipes when they are putting their hands all over the doors. The wipes will also be placed throughout the building. This will allow students to keep the building clean for several events, not just an isolated guest speaker. The dry-erase boards and markers will be used to make signs as reminders to clean up after themselves, to wipe down water fountains, door handles, and such. The brooms and trash cans will be placed by the gym doors and exterior doors so that when we have assemblies, students can sweep up dirt brought in by visitors from the community. The community needs to feel that we are willing to be clean and ready to serve them. The community comes in several times throughout the year for events. We have parents into the building, several times a year for parent meetings. We also have the community come in for a Veterans Day program veterans speaking to our students about flag ceremonies and procedures, the Harlem Globetrotters for the community to enjoy, various tournaments, guest speakers throughout the year and much more. We are blessed to have beautiful facilities. This group would like to use this grant to serve the community by keeping the environment safe from germs, but also a create a clean environment so they feel respected as they walk in the doors.
