Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very tech savvy for six year olds. They yearn for fast paced, fun apps to learn and grow. They are children with an awareness of the new age of technology. Hands-on is the way to go! My students will meet and surpass the common core state standards, and will step up to 2nd grade.

My students consist of both low income, general and special education, first grade students.

They are like little sponges that are ready to absorb what you expose them to. The students currently have two desktop computers in the classroom, that constantly have problems. They do not have the opportunity to go to the computer lab, so if they do not get a chance in class to go on the computer, they have very little exposure. We were very fortunate to get a project funded for iPads. It would great to have a charging and storage cabinet to place the iPads to keep them secured as well as charged for the following day's lesson.

My Project

We were recently funded for 8 iPads. These iPads need their protective gear to keep them safe and working. The iPads are being used by my new kindergarten class at our school to expand their knowledge of technology and enhance their learning. However, I am constantly in fear since the iPads currently have no protective gear. Our students come from low income homes where many of them are not exposed to technology before entering school. Having iPads readily available allows the students to use them as classroom tools and be prepared for technological expectations in upper grades. Students use these iPads during daily rotations in both math and language arts to engage in their learning. Through our current curriculums, like Starfall, our students have access to wonderful online tools.

These iPads protective gear will allow our students daily access to these tools and more without the constant worry of an iPad being dropped.
