"Play is talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood." -Fred Rodgers
This quote describes exactly what kindergarten students need to do to increase their learning.
My students are energetic five- and six-year-old children who need a variety of ways to learn. For many, English is their second language, and, because of their different learning styles, most of our day centers around hands-on learning. My school is one of a few schools in the district that has an ELL (English Language Learners) program.
My Project
These Osmo Coding Jam and Osmo Hot Wheels MindRacers games will enhance the hands-on learning classroom that I have strived to create.
We currently only have one kit with one base.
These two kits will allow more of my students to utilize the Osmo. They allow them to learn through play as they are guided to make the correct choices.
My students show a great interest in learning to code, but currently we lack, hand on, age appropriate coding activities.
With the Osmo Coding Jam game, students will get to experience hands-on learning in both coding and problem solving. The Hot Wheels MindRacers Game is a fun way to improve a child's dexterity and quick thinking.
Play is very important to 5 and 6-year-olds. The Osmo kits will greatly enhance my students' learning as they play.
