Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a very small town with a population of approximately 2,000 people. We are nestled in the Rocky Mountains and enjoy beautiful views and are surrounded by wildlife. We are hours away from big city life and enjoy life in a simple way.
My students love a challenge, setting goals, and learning how to work together to achieve them.
The students I work with are talented, hardworking, team players, and love learning. I work with a variety of students, including high needs, autistic students learning how to be in the general education setting and students who are gifted in regards to academics. I have students from many socio-economic backgrounds and coming from homes with different family situations.
This range of diverse students and personalities makes our learning environment a great place to grow from one another's experiences and the students all have different experiences they bring to our classroom. My students are incredible at whatever they set their minds to and surprise me everyday with how much they accomplish.
My Project
Keeping their learning space organized is something that learners need to be capable of even at a young age. Everyone has a different view of what organized looks like but I would like to provide my students with space and places to be able to put their learning tools. These seat sacks will be available to students to keep their reading books at hand, materials that are needed throughout the day, and all right there, easy to access and without interfering with our limited learning time.
The donation to this project will help bring seat sacks to young learners and allow them to have a spot to keep their items, take ownership of their materials and places to put them, help with time management of getting resources available and will overall help keep the classroom an organized spot where students feel like they take an active role in keeping a happy classroom where materials are available to them in easy to find places.
It will especially be beneficial in keeping their reading and math manipulatives close. Their books can be readily available to read at any free time in the day without causing interruptions to others learning.
Students will be able to focus on their learning, working with their peers, and engaging in the content instead of worrying about finding a place to put their materials, remembering where everything goes and spending time looking for their tools.
My students have shown that they can take ownership of their items and it would be beneficial to give them a place to put their things.
