Help me give my students fun activities to keep their minds working over summer break! First Grade workbooks, play dough and markers will all be great ways to stay academically active!
My students are trying to learn new things with technology nearly everyday. They are six and seven, but they didn't get the chance to have a full year of school under their belt. Now, they need to jump right into learning to get caught up on what they missed in the spring. They come from all around the world and have a variety of lifestyles and learning needs. With a high poverty level, many of my students face multiple challenges both in and out of the classroom. First graders need a safe, comfortable learning environment to do their best work.
They are constantly striving to do their best and are learning to appreciate and value individual needs of each person that walks through our door.
With what the world is going through now, school will look very different. The kids are worried, stressed and unsure what school will be like. We want to make them feel as safe as possible. It is going to be important for these kids to know that they are loved and we are here for them near or far. We have their best interests in mind.
My Project
These are just a few items that I can put in an end of the year gift basket for my students. I will add more myself but I wanted a variety of things to keep their brains active!
Summers can be tough for kids and we don't want them to slip and forget the things they've learned during school.
By having these resources, they can keep their brains in shape to be ready to hopefully return to schools in the fall!
These items will be sent home with each child so they have fun, yet academic activities to work on over the summer.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
