My students are from an inner-city section of Cleveland, known for unsafe streets. WE focus on making safety one of our top concerns at school because a feeling of safety allows you to focus on learning while at school.
My students are in the fifth and sixth grade, working to succeed in education with obstacles that we are trying to overcome in order to match our counterparts in more affluent areas.
I would like my students to be able to learn modern uses for technology such as Google Docs, Microsoft Office online storage, and coding to be ready for future careers.
My Project
Data collection is an integral component in gauging the improvements in students' reading and mathematics skills. Such data comes from State and District assessments and student work. This data is combined and kept in a single binder for students to review and helps them maintain self motivation. The binders are private unless a student wants to share with others. My students are permitted to keep the binders as a permanent reminder of their successes.
My students are excited when they see their work laminated and displayed for others.
This helps them gain confidence. Being able to display student work also helps motivate students to do their best. They truly are proud in what products they have produced!
