My Students
I am currently a fully self-contained preschool special education teacher in a Title I elementary school in Hawaii. More than half of my students are from low income families. I have preschool students with various disabilities and delays including autism, fine motor, gross motor, speech/communication, behavior management, social emotional needs, developmental delays and medically fragile.
My students are full of energy, loving, caring, spirited and eager to learn group.
My Project
Students with special needs often times have impairments that leads to undesirable behaviors such as tantrums and running from care givers without regard to their safety and safety of others.
Creating a safe environment would enable my students with these behaviors to go outside and play with their peers safely.
A fence and fun and engaging toys/activities would help to prevent my students from running to possibly unsafe areas. I have to say this is one of the worries I have as a special education teacher. Please help us to create a safe outdoor environment for my students.
