My Students

I am lucky enough to work with an amazing group of third graders. They are all eager to learn and grow academically. Our classroom culture is built around the students' shared love of learning and support for one another regardless of differences.

Over 90% of my students come from low-income families and come to school with varying academic and social-emotional needs.

Regardless of this, our room is filled with laughter, learning, and kindness.

My students will be working hard this year to not only grow academically, but also social emotionally. We will grow to become more fluent and close readers while also deepening our understanding of mathematical concepts. We will be scientists, historians, artists, and problem solvers. We will engage in a lot of hands-on learning with projects to further our understanding of concepts.

My Project

As we all realize, remote learning is going to be challenging for both students and teachers. This is something families and teachers have never had to do before, so our resources right now are limited.

One challenge is providing students with engaging and exciting remote learning activities and by donating to our project, we will be able to overcome this challenge and focus instead on having fun learning!

Through research I have found a few resources that will better help me to support my students. Teachers Pay Teachers is a "created by teachers" curriculum resource website. The TPT card will not only help me buy digital activities and lessons for me to use with the students to engage them in their learning, but will also help me to provide digital Social-Emotional Supports for my students during this difficult time.

Also, many students have several siblings doing remote learning or parents working remotely, so there is the potential for there to be a lot of distractions in their homes! My goal is to give each student headphones to help them focus during our lessons while at home. The headphones will also help when we are able to go back into the classroom to ensure students are not sharing their headphones.
