Help me give my students fresh foods and healthy snacks when they come to school hungry with refrigeration and micro-wave I can give them healthy food options when necessary.
My students are the light of my life. They come to my classroom with a number of social issues and, together, we turn a group of inner city kids into motivated and excited learners. The school is considered to be in a high poverty location, but all of us understand that we must forge ahead because a good education is imperative for their future success.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela
From day one, my students are aware of my perspective on education. Together we make goals that help each one of them strive to use their education as a weapon to guide in their success. They understand this quote from Nelson Mandela and explain how it applies to their own lives and learning. At the end of the year, I always reflect on how well they are doing with their "powerful weapon."
My Project
All of us know that a hungry child has difficulty focusing on lessons and learning. This refrigerator and microwave will allow me to purchase healthy/perishable food options for those students who come to school hungry.
Many of my students come to school hungry or get hungry during the day and I want to provide them with snacks to fuel them for the rest of the day.
I believe that healthy snacks will give them the energy to make it through to the end of the day successfully.
My goal is to reach each and every student's full potential and I know a student that is hungry cannot possibly focus on my lesson. At times, they need a quick snack to refuel and continue learning.
