My Project
I teach the most amazing and unique second graders around! My classroom is very diverse, including English language learners, special education students, and students receiving speech, language, or behavioral support. What unites us as a community is that each child comes to school with a deep desire to create, solve problems, and learn. This project is for arts and crafts supplies and storage boxes.
Encouraging creativity in the classroom benefits students both academically and emotionally.
According to Psychology Today, research shows that childhood creativity predicts economic success in adulthood. Individuals who are more creative at age 7 tend to have higher career earnings and land in better-quality jobs.
What I do know from experience is that kids are much more engaged and motivated to learn when they are able to express themselves. One way I can allow them to do this is through arts and crafts.
