Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, kind, energetic, and hungry for knowledge. We love to learn through engaging lessons that let us express our learning in new and exciting ways. The students come ready to learn and face new challenges, both academic and personal every day!
Our classroom is designed differently than a traditional classroom.
The students have a variety of seating option to fit individual learning needs.
Our school is located in a western suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. We are one of four third grade classrooms, in a school that services kindergarten through eighth grade. As a school, we strive to build lasting relationships with all stake holders, including fellow students, parents, businesses, and community members.
My Project
My third graders have a lot of access to fiction books, but are lacking nonfiction text. The subscription to Scholastic News will help solve this problem!
The students are very curious about the world around them and most don't ever leave the state.
This subscription will allow us to explore the world from the comfort of our classroom. The students will be able to read current articles at a third grade level. The class will be able to use Scholastic News to work on our 3rd grade informational text standards with current content that is created with 3rd graders in mind.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
