it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I currently have a group of 24 fabulous second graders in a warm, inviting, happy classroom. They live in a low income, high poverty stricken inner city community in northern New Jersey. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom due to their socioeconomic status and their varying academic abilities. Despite this, they are ready, willing, and excited to learn! They tackle challenges and strive to do their best. They are resilient, respectful, and hardworking students.
Help the students be cool in the spring and summer and warm in the fall and winter.
Even though our school building is not old, our heating and cooling system is not the best in my classroom. We are in need of a portable heating/cooling system to help us stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Throughout the Covid 19 ordeal, following CDC guidelines, and school safety procedures students are using sneeze shields on their desks which is another reason why we need this portable heating/cooling system to help them stay focused and not worry about temperature issues that may arise. With Covid, mask-wearing being mandatory this year, and no air conditioning, learning in a hot classroom or very cold room is very taxing for students and staff alike. Imagine trying to learn and engage in various activities in a hot/cold room, difficult isn't it? Please consider donating to this special cause to help students focus and achieve more in class.
