Help me give my students a document camera, snap circuits, and other STEM activity kits for the ability to be engaged in authentic problem-solving and resources for both in classroom and remote instruction if required.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a gifted and talented pull-out teacher working at an urban school district. I divide my time between two elementary schools. Although the majority of my time is working with 4-6 grade students, I also provide in-classroom and small support for K-3 students as well. One of my schools is a Title I school. The other is not. Providing support during COVID-19 has had its challenges. My students impress me with their resilience.
Keeping students safe and engaged during a global pandemic is of utmost importance.
My Project
STEM activities allow students the safety to fail forward so they see failure as a stepping stone and not a stumbling block. The requested STEM-based activities will allow my students to generate questions and problems, brainstorm solutions, and experiment with possible solutions through prototyping. These activities will promote collaboration amongst students in an inviting environment where they will have the ability to learn through trial and error.
The document camera and headphones will support learning in the classroom and in a remote learning environment, should the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic warrant it.
