Keeping Advanced Readers Engaged with Literature Circles

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all learning a second language as well as becoming proficient in using technology to streamline their learning. Our campus is a Title I campus, where most of our children are of a low socioeconomic status. They don't let that stop them though! They work hard every day to cooperate with each other and grow.

My students are creative, hardworking, and enthusiastic learners.

Every day I am amazed by their thought process and their ability to dig deeper into what I am teaching. They consistently show me their hunger for learning and their willingness to work to get there. Therefore, I am constantly looking for ways to engage them and extend their learning experience in the classroom.

My Project

Every year I get a group of students that are already reading above grade level. Those are the kids that often times get neglected when we are planning for small group lessons because we know they don't need as much help. I want to be able to provide them the time and the resources to have self-guided literature circles. With the books sets that I am requesting, I would be able to have this group of students work together and more independently from me, while still getting the reading practice they need to continue to advance their reading level and enhance their comprehension.
