This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an amazing group of Preschoolers who attend a Title I school located in a high-poverty area of Los Angeles County. Many of them come from low socioeconomic background and are second language learners.
Although my students may have many challenges, they have a love for learning that is immeasurable.
They come to my class every day with smiles and ready to learn because they know that hard work is the way to succeed.
My Project
i am requesting KN95 masks to keep my students healthy and learning. Health officials report that positive COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles County have increased nearly 10 times in the past month.
My students have returned to school from the Winter Break to isolations, quarantines and class closures due to the highly contagious Omicron variant.
With over 30 thousand positive cases per day, it is imperative that my students have access to KN95 masks. My students' families have been seriously affected by the outbreak of positive cases and many of them cannot afford to buy these masks. Many of my students show up to my gate without a mask or the one they have is too big and it keeps sliding below their noses.
Having the N95 mask can really make a difference in reducing the amount of kids getting sick and missing school. The N95 masks have more layers for protection than the regular masks. They also fit better around their little face making it easier for them to keep the mask on and consequently safer from COVID.
