My students need non-fiction books to continue to excite students to read at their own level of reading. They also need book boxes and story wands.

My Students

Have you ever picked up a book that you really wanted to read but could not read because it was so hard? My Kindergarten students experience this every year.

My Kindergarten students are low income students.

Most of my students walk into my room never holding a book. They are so excited when they can pick up a book and look at the pictures. They would be even more excited if they could pick up the book and read it.

My Project

If adopted, my students will be able to choose a book for Readers' Workshop that they will be able to sit and read. They will be able to use the Non-Fiction books to peek their interest in reading while be able to share it with their peers. The story wands will be an interesting way for students to stay on task while reading. All students love interesting and new ways to do the same task. The tubs will help me organize the books for students to easily choose books during their Readers' Workshop. All of these materials help to make the flow of our Readers' Workshop work more effectively.

By putting a book in each of my students hand, it will encourage students to read and learn.

It will also encourage students to share their stories with other students and possibly at home.
