My Project
Flexible seating is something I have always dreamed of being able to incorporate into my future classroom. As a first year teacher I have looked into providing these on my own and realized it was a much bigger task than I could take on myself. I have seen how amazing flexible seating such as: wobble stools, wobble cushions, chair bands, and others help students stay focused. These chairs are a big way to help the students get their wiggles out during a lesson without interrupting me, themselves, or others.
Flexible seating works wonders for students with ADHD, various spectrum disorders, and even anxiety.
These "fun" chairs are more than chairs. They are tools designed to help each student be more successful in their education career by helping them to focus on the task at hand.
My goal for this project is to provide flexible seating for all my current and potential new students I have thought the year and the years to come. By helping donate to this project I will be able to help my students to focus better in class. It will also help as a way to teach responsibility with how we should use these tools and will serve as an incentive itself. I will change their seating arrangements about every few weeks to once a month to allow them to try the different seating.
What makes my students special is that they will be my very first class of students in my professional career! I am so very excited to meet them all and make this an amazing year for them. I will teach them so much this year, but they will also teach me so much more than I could ever imagine. Thank you so much!
