Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Unfortunately, next year my school will not provide a visual arts class so I want to integrate it into my teaching. My students are creative and love to express themselves through art projects. Each of them is unique and always excited to use new materials to craft different projects. But, at the moment, art supplies are limited in my classroom.
The goal of this project is to provide my students with different art mediums so they can continue to experience the benefits of visual arts.
Oil pastels will be used to illustrate creative writing prompts. Watercolors allow students to practice layering and color mixing. This is perfect for science integration as students create paintings related to weathering and erosion. Drawing chalk will be used outdoors to practice drawing coordinate planes. They will also practice similar skills indoors using construction paper. Markers and wax paper will be used to create faux stained glass projects to illustrate a text's main idea. Also, paint is great for creating maps and anchor charts.
All art supplies will be used for various art projects that will deepen my students' understanding across the curriculum, while also exploring their creative side.
