Keep the Music Keyboards Powered!

My students need 9 copies of beginning level piano books and 192 AA batteries to power 12 music electric keyboards.

This project is fully funded

I am the general music teacher to 600 students at 2 schools in grades K-8. The school for which this grant is intended has a large population of students who are bilingual in Spanish and English. In music class students sing, move to music, and perform on instruments. I am in the beginning stages of building an adequate supply of classroom instruments, technology, and resources at this school. Thanks to the generosity of Donors Choose contributors who have donated a total of 7 music electronic keyboards to my school, the music room now has a total of 12 electric keyboards for students to use! The music room does not have enough electrical outlets for all 12 keyboards to be plugged in simultaneously, and we do not have enough room to safely use extension cords. Each keyboard requires six AA batteries. In order to power all the keyboards, I am requesting batteries to power the instruments. Students are taught to always turn off keyboards when they are not being played, so the students will make the batteries last. I am also requesting beginning piano books which will be used in all general music classes to teach keyboard performance. While playing the keyboards students will perform, improvise, and experience the satisfaction of making music.
