Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are always excited about school. Due to COVID-19, we were not able to meet that last few months of the school year. As I am looking toward our next school year, it is unsure that we will be able to be in our school all the time.
My students lack supplies at home to complete their learning at home.
Our school serves a mostly Hispanic population. It is a big job to have the students embrace and learn two languages.
My Project
Kindergarten is very hands on. We learn by doing, manipulating, exploring, investigating, and more. Developmentally we access our learning through all of our senses. This ties into how our brains work and grow.
Children at this age need materials to make their learning concrete.
As learning has moved to online learning, Kindergarteners are still in need of these hands on tools so they can continue to learn in the best way possible.
These requested materials will allow my students to keep practicing the skills they need to learn even at home. This will even the playing field across all kids in my classroom. All students will have the same materials needed in order to continue learning during this online learning time in a developmentally appropriate way.
