This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For most children kindergarten is their first experience in school. I believe kindergarten is the foundation for learning and the key to success for life. Therefore, I want to create ​excitement for learning! One way in which this is accomplished is through hands-on manipulatives and cooperative play in our classroom!

I feel privileged to teach my kindergarten students.

They are eager and excited to learn. My students attend a large public school and most come from low-income households. Many students receive free lunch and also qualify for free after-school programs. Some of my students are learning English as a second language and are attending school for the first time. They don't have access to many technology resources or have opportunities to participate in academically enriching activities outside of my classroom.

My Project

We are requesting a few items that will help technology grow in our classroom. First we would love to have an iPod touch to store our classroom music. We especially love to listen to songs for math and science that help the students physically move and learn at the same time! Secondly, we are requesting a wireless scanner. The scanner will be used to convert most of our old paper documents into a digital version. Once they are in a digital version, we will have access to them on the projector or class computer. This will eliminate lots of papers that are currently stored in a large file cabinet in our class and entail create more space for my little learners. Finally, we are requesting ink for our printer. Our printer is in constant use printing resources (for math, science, literacy, etc.) and wonderful student work!
