My Project
There is never a dull day in 5th grade. We have 29 students in the classroom, most just coming to the United States within the past two to three years. There is not a day that goes by that I don't marvel at how strong these children are coming from situations and places that would test the strongest adult.
And boy do we go through the supplies.
Pencils, pencils & more pencils. Where do they all go. The students put so much effort into reading, math and writing english every day.
The cultural diversity in our classroom is inspiring as the children work together. We talk about how we have different customs and yet how much the same we all are. It's a great place to teach and I learn from the children every day. Unfortunately our families are unable to supply their children with the supplies they need for the classroom and so the responsibility falls on us.
