Keep Our Kindergarten Kids Reading

My Students

I teach kindergarten in an inner city school in Flint, Michigan, where 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. The majority of our students come to us below grade level and have little academic support at home due to the life circumstances of their families.

My students are eager to learn, but need a lot of additional support in all subject areas, in order for them to be successful in their future endeavors.

Your donations to our projects help us to make that happen for the students that we are blessed to serve.

Your donations have made it possible for me to do awesome things with my kindergarten kids and has also helped to make it possible for me to be named an excellence in teaching award finalist for a 2nd year. Thank you to everyone who continues to support my classroom!

My Project

Our classroom is in need of more emergent text books for our classroom in order to keep our students engaged in reading as well as practicing and building their reading skills.

The addition of the Lakeshore Emergent Readers, Lakeshre Non-fiction Emergent Readers, and Lakeshore Word Family Readers will help my students to improve their reading skills, spend more time reading, and to help keep them focused and engaged.

My hope is that the addition of these books into our classroom will help instill a love of reading within each and everyone of my students and help to lead them to become lifelong readers.
