My Students

Every day is Earth Day at our school. My classroom needs more books about Environmental Science. I am planning a "Go Green" unit for my class. My class will use these materials and supplies in order to learn more about our Earth.

My students attend a urban school in one of the largest school districts in the country.

Students come from diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school where more than half of the population is on free or reduced lunch.

My Project

My students will learn about Environmental Science through books, activity centers, and creative art projects. I will use the organizational materials to create book boxes with activities for my students. Students will have activity centers that include a recycle station, a highlighter station (with the books), and a writing station. My students will have a culminating art project to show what they have learned.

This project is a chance for my first graders to learn more about caring for our earth.

It is a cross-curricular project that includes Science, Reading,Art and Writing. With these materials, my students will learn more from books and activities than boring worksheets.
