Help me give my students individual or hands-free supplies to continue preventing COVID transmission in our school; including but not limited to a foaming hand sanitizer dispenser and stand and a faucet water filter for filling water bottles!
Our school is located in a rural village in northern Alaska. My students love school and they have been so happy that we have been allowed to return to in-person school this year. I am so thankful I get to be their teacher during an unprecedented school year.
My Project
COVID has brought some incredible challenges and has made once simple tasks inconvenient without proper supplies. Due to our school protocols, we are unable to share supplies without proper disinfection, however, this can easily eat into instructional time.
The products I have selected will allow students to have some semblance of normalcy without adding to the to-do list; maximizing instructional time.
Having enough Play-Doh will allow students to have sensory and fine motor experiences common in the kindergarten classroom without having to share. Individual headphones will allow students to participate in their blended learning activities without disturbing others around them. The water bottles, cleaning/organizational supplies, and faucet filter will keep students hydrated and healthy as we continue to press on through the pandemic. The hand sanitizing station will encourage both students and staff to disinfect their hands throughout the day as they walk in and out of our classroom. The command hooks will help to hang our individual book bags (made necessary by COVID) from student desks and keep our classroom floor clutter-free.
