My students come to art class full of energy, ready to create, and excited to see what we will be doing that day.
I teach at a Title I school in Georgia where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast.
Our school serves students k-5 with a diverse ethnicity. I use STEAM projects to collaborate and reinforce common core standards with the arts. Differentiation within classes vary and require creativity and a variety of supplies to keep students engaged.
My Project
My art students finish their projects at different times, so I am trying to create STEAM bins to keep early finishers engaged while others continue to work. The bins and timer will assist in organizing, cleaning, and time management. Each bin will contain some sort of manipulative (stencils, clips, or sharpies) for creating a STEAM project for building or drawing.
Time management and organization is key to providing a safe and productive classroom.
The Auditory Time Timer will allow students to keep up with remaining class time and prepare for clean up before leaving, allowing me time to set up for the next class.
