My Project
In our district, there is a policy that students should not go to their lockers between classes. They are required to carry a 3-inch binder that has everything they need for class, including their Chromebook, a planner, pencils, pens, paper and folders. The problem is that many students can't afford binders that cost between $20 and $50, particularly in families with multiple children. So they buy cheaper ones that in most cases are not big enough to do the job.
Binders are a great idea to keep students' work organized, however, many students, a month into school, still don't have a binder that works for them.
The English learners I teach want to follow the rules, but economic situations have made compliance difficult. This project will remove that barrier.
