This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In challenging situations, teens instinctively seek comfort from something or someone they can turn to in their time of need.
Offering students comforting elements such as tactile objects like a big, soft and huggable teddy bear or sensory toys, maybe a savory or sweet tasty treat, or some pleasing wall decor, can help induce a calming effect during moments of distress.
In adition, sometimes they need a space to complete schoolwork, print projects and resources, or just have a minute to ground themselves.
This project and its items will allow me the resources to provide empathic understanding and compassion to any student on campus (three high schools) who needs a safe and supportive environment to feel acknowledged, understood, and validated.
