My kindergarten students need 25 At-Your-Seat Storage Sack's.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Smith's classroom raised $335
This project is fully funded
I teach kindergarten at a wonderfully diverse, yet high poverty school. Half of the students were unable to bring in basic school supplies. Currently all of our supplies are in small baskets that the children access family style at their assigned tables. Instead of desks where the students could store supplies, my classroom has tables that seat six students each.
Table space is a premium. The baskets we use for supplies take up needed table space. Many of my students have not had a social or educational experience prior to their first year of kindergarten. Sharing can be hard and "passing the plate" family style to pick out crayons has its challenges - "I wanted that one," "you took my color," "those are mine, I used them last time!"
The At-Your-Seat Storage Sacks would provide the students and their grateful teacher a wonderful solution that would teach the students responsibility for their own supplies. The storage sacks enable the student to keep at hand the pencils, glue, scissors, and crayons that they use throughout the day. These sacks will save precious minutes, which are so valuable in a half day kindergarten program, since students will not have to wait to receive needed supplies. Giving the students ownership of what is in their seat sack will teach them to value the supplies, treat them with respect, and teach them organizational skills. The storage sacks will also come in handy when I need to relocate one of my kindergarten friends to a new table. The chairs, with their sack attached, can be quickly moved - key to successful classroom management!
Your donation will help ensure that the students in my classroom have the ability to quickly access their supplies and help teach them to be responsible for their things - laying a great foundation to their first year in school!
