Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students at this Title I school in Los Angeles are bright, cheerful, motivated and enthusiastic learners. The students range from special education to gifted learners. Because my students are diverse, the use of cognitive strategies can significantly impact certain learning outcomes.
The goal is to create a Cognitive Guided Learning environment for my students.
CGI instruction is a way of listening to students, asking smart questions, and engage with their thinking. All with the goal of uncovering and expanding every student's understanding.
My Project
Due to budget cuts the custodial staff is limited at my school and I end up doing most of the cleaning. I have a carpet this year that I use for the children to sit on during CGI instruction.
After a day of coming in and out from recess and lunch the carpet gets darn dirty.
I need a powerful and handy vacuum cleaner to keep things clean and tidy. No one wants to sit on a dirty carpet. Sometimes the students lay on the carpet to do work. This is why I need this vacuum, so I can do a quick sweep and keep it fresh.
