This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In a first grade classroom, organizational skills are a foundational skill that fosters student independence and helps to support academic success. Seat sacks are a practical and effective tool that supports the skills of attention and task management. These fabric organizers hang on the back of the students desk and stores their learning materials, such as notebooks, workbooks, pencil case, etc. Students often misplace reading books, notebooks, folders, etc., due to limited desk space. This can cause a loss in instructional time, frustration, and less engagement. Often the entire class may be waiting for one student to find their materials. Seat sacks provide an immediate and accessible place for students to store materials that are used frequently. This helps create a more efficient transition between tasks and allows the students to take a greater responsibility for their materials.

Incorporating Seat Sacks into the classroom can promote organization, reduce classroom clutter, minimize time looking for supplies, and create a more efficient, calm, and focused learning environment.

Students having seat sacks will help with transitions, reduce the loss of materials, and promote a calm learning environment. Please help to support our classroom and students to stay organized and ready to learn!
