My Project

The mini spheros that I am requesting will be a continuation of support in learning how to code. I have had to borrow these items for a minimal amount of time in the previous school years for my students to explore and discover coding. Having these items in my classroom will allow me to use my student's passions in coding to access them more often throughout the school year.

My goal is to share lessons on coding with all my gifted learners, 1st-5th.

This will look different for each grade level. For example, the 1st grade will learn to access a few functions of the spheros, while the 5th graders will be given specific tasks, such as programming the sphero to go forward a specific length and then working on angles and degrees. This will enhance critical thinking for my gifted learners.

My gifted learners need these extra challenges. With my school not being a Title I school, we often get overlooked on funding for requests like technology. Technology is our student's future. They come to my class every day to experience new things that require problem-solving and innovation. The quality of the lessons I present to them needs to be filled with depth and complexity. Having access to these spheros will allow more higher-level critical thinking skills while supporting the creativity of the possibilities of programming these mini robots.
