This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have twenty-four amazing 3rd grade students that show up to class eager to learn, despite the challenges they are faced with both in and out of the classroom. We are at a low income Title 1 school that offers free breakfast and lunch to all children. My students have a wide variety of learning styles and levels, all of which deserve the best education possible. Every student in my classroom is unique and everyone in the room respects each other. I care about my students and they know it!
My goal as a bilingual teacher is to encourage my students to love learning and to develop lifelong independent learners.
I especially love that my students try their best on everything that comes their way. They love to read and enjoy hands-on activities. They are great helpers and I know I can count on them. Every day, I make sure to instill good qualities that will make them amazing citizens. I want my students to remember me when they grow up, so I make them feel welcome, safe, and important on a daily basis!
My Project
I want to make sure my students have a pantry full of healthy snacks for the new school year. As we know, healthy snacks are important for children in school for many reasons. They will boost their energy level and help them stay focused. Snacks also provide nutrients needed to help keep hunger at bay, since their bodies are growing fast!
I don't want my students to be hungry in class and not be able to concentrate because their tummy is rumbling.
I like to take "brain breaks" during class already, but by providing them with a snack along with their break, they will be rejuvenated. Our longest block is in the morning before we go to lunch and my students often say, "Ms. Flores, I'm hungry" or "Is it lunch time already." These snacks will bring smiles to my students faces!
Since my classroom does not have any closets, I am requesting the storage cabinet to keep all of our snacks. It'll be our own classroom pantry! My students will be very thankful to have your support! Here's to healthy snacks for our 3rd grade classroom!
