My students need common core aligned learning centers for fiction/non-fiction comprehension, phonics, highting, writing sets, and informational text charts for teaching.

My Students

A typical day in my reading block consists of two very different groups of children: children who are very advanced and need an extra push to challenge them in their learning and children who really need foundation skills in phonics and basic reading.

My students are smart, ambitious, and motivated children.

They are interesting, inspiring, and inquisitive. They love to learn and teach others. Our school embraces diversity and finding ways to teach the whole child. We love to think outside of the box!

My Project

My students will use the centers in two ways: First, my students who need help with foundational skills will use the reading centers which are designed to increase phonemic awareness. I am hoping that with these centers, those students will finally grasp the FUN world of reading that they lack because it has never been presented in this FUN way. Second, my other students will use the comprehension centers to enhance their learning of reading comprehension. They will work together in homogeneous groups with students on their reading level to develop a deeper understanding of each unit covered.

This project is important because reading is the most important life skill a child can learn.

Some of my students desperately need these resources so they can learn the basic skill of understanding language. The other students need these resources so they can be challenged to understand what they read even more deeply.
