Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I never saw myself as an actor. I really didn't. However, when you get the chance to stand in front of 30 bright-eyed students, you have to be. I sing, I dance and I have mastered the voices of many different cartoon animals. I understand the responsibility of a great first impression of the school. It warms my heart that such a simple gesture has become such an essential part of their school day.
I teach a bilingual classroom where all 30 of my students are English Language Learners.
My students love to read and are eager to solve problems every single day. The school I proudly work at serves a low-income population of primarily Hispanic students. Despite many hardships, my students always come in motivated and ready to learn!
My Project
What's more fun than puzzles? If I could throw out some puzzles during indoor recess and I would get some instant fun with some serious benefits! Puzzles promote problem solving, higher order thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.
My bilingual students are often shy when they start to speak English.
Puzzles can provide a low affective environment for our EL students to have conversations with their peers. Puzzles are known to help children with fine motor development. When engaged in playing with puzzles, children are required to pick up, pinch and grasp pieces and move them around, manipulating them into slots, sorting them and fitting them into the correct places. Help my students by providing several fun activities for them in their development!
