This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are beautiful, eager 1st graders in a low-income area in East New York, Brooklyn. The school receives 100% free breakfast and lunch.
These students need to be given experiences that make them excited to come to school to work and learn!
Loving to come to school means succeeding in the future!
They are only in first grade, so it is critical that they develop a love of school and learning at this early and integral time in their education.
My Project
These ball seats will be a great way to reduce restlessness and increase focusing. They will allow for some students to move and balance while working and learning. They can be easily moved around the classroom and allow for student choice!
Flexible Seating is a great strategy to increase success rates!
Also, the reading phones can be used to increase focusing as well. They allow for the children to hear themselves read, listen for fluency and monitor their own reading, which is a challenging strategy to have youngsters do!
