Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in grades nine through twelve. We are a small, public school tucked away in the mountains. My students struggle with their emotions due to varying disabilities.
We practice Community Based Instruction (CBI).
CBI is educational instruction in naturally occurring community environments providing students real-life experiences. My students need intensive instruction in functional and daily living skills. We run a school-wide coffee shop where employability skills are learned through actual daily sales. They are responsible for completing their biweekly time cards.
My Project
My students struggle to drink their required daily water intake.
Drinking water has various health benefits .
Having our own 5-gallon water jug with it's own water pump dispenser will allow my students the opportunity to get their water intake in the classroom.
The flavors are sugar-free and there are a variety to choose from to make their water more enjoyable.
My students will like using the cool pumping system that dispenses the clean water. They will have to make sure it gets charged daily adding to their responsibilities.
The pretzels are to make them thirsty so they will drink water, as well as give them a snack during our lessons.
